Quiet Time

Hello everyone.  Just checking in.  I know it's been a couple days.  It's quiet here .  The weather has been cold.  I don't remember it being quite this cold this time last year.  It's welcomed though and again, so is the beautiful changing of the leaves on the trees.

Mom and Dad are foot loose and fancy free, traveling for a few days.  Driving of course. For as long as I can remember, Dad always enjoyed taking road trips...whether it was a drive to Philly or a day trip to the unknown. Most of the time the "trips" weren't planned. Mom would wake us up on a Sunday morning and tell us we weren't going to Sunday school. That in itself was always exciting!! Then we'd venture off somewhere.  I still wonder if Dad knew where he was taking us each time...or he would just drive until he stumbled upon something that he thought would be kid AND parent friendly.  I told Mom the other day how thankful I am, that my father had that time to spend with us as a family.  I can't imagine how those adventures would have been without him.  They are very special memories and my fondness of them gives me warm fuzzies all over.

I watched Little Miss Sunshine last night, and loved it.  There are too many good lines from it to quote. However, one of my favorites is..."Do what you love, forget the rest..."  (Ummm...in the movie he doesn't actually say forget. He says the f-word....shhhhhhhhhh).  Anyway, do what you love and NEVER forget that!

I hope today finds y'all content, healthy and grateful for the moments.  Much love xoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Please Say Prayers For:

Furniture, Food and Five Grateful's

Where to start...I've been taking prednisone for the last two days.  It's a wonder drug of sorts.  Well, it doesn't cure cancer obviously but it sure does make lots of other ailments better!  Anyway, in my feeling better mode I decided I had LOTS of energy.  I rearranged the furniture in my room and...this is a big and... I moved my 33 inch television all by myself to the garage.  I didn't carry it.  I sort of dragged it. (The color tube blew so it's of no use.)  Let me tell ya though, not such a smart idea.  I am paying for it now.  My back is on fire.  I've taken an Oxycontin to remedy the pain.  This should be interesting!  Forgive me if this entry turns into babble!!!  Laughing....

Tomorrow morning, we should know if I poisoned Mom and Dad.  I cooked dinner tonight for all of us!!  Baked chicken with this yummy sauce, mac and cheese, stewed apples with cinnamon, coleslaw and broccoli and carrots.  Not to pat myself on the back BUT it was good.  Shhhhhh don't tell...I'm starting to enjoy this cooking stuff!!  :)

I noticed in my comments I have a few new readers.  WELCOME and thanks for joining my AMAZING friends and family here.  If you also have an AOL journal PLEASE send me your link so I can attach it to my journal and others can share in your life too!!

My five grateful's before I tuck in:

1) I woke up to a new day!

2) My oldest niece sent me an email saying she missed me.

3) I cooked dinner and no one has died, ummmmm yet!

4) Stephen was able to make a cancer joke and laugh at it....FINALLY.

5) Hospice picked up all the stuff Mom and I didn't sell at the yard sale.

I must lay down.  I sure do love y'all!!

Please Say Prayers For:

Patience

Or lack there of.  That's what my day consisted of.  However, I am not going to go into details or complain.  I am just going to list my five grateful's and then tuck myself into bed.

1) I survived another day!

2) The weather was perfect.

3) Mom and Dad are still tolerating me!! Ha ha!!

4) I ate a grape Blow Pop!

5) Oh I forgot this one from last week, and it's HUGE news!!  I qualified for a program that waived my $90,000 in medical bills!!  (The choir now chimes in Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!!!)

Ohhh wait...UPDATES.  Lenore remains in the hospital with a blood clot in her lung.  They are still trying to dissolve it.  My hero, little Mr. Nathan...well I've cut and pasted his mother's journal entry....right here.

I got a brief summary of Nathan’s MRI results today. He is positive for Avascular Necrosis of the right hip. We will get the full report on Friday and the list of things we need to do to help him. My expectation from my conversation today is that we will be keeping him off his legs for up to 6 weeks give or take. This may or may not be the reason for his continued leg pain.

For those that don't know Nathan's history, he has stage 4 Neuroblastoma.

Please keep all the prayers coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love y'all.  Thank you for continuing on this journey with me.  Good night! xoxoxoxoxoxox

Simple Sunday

I'm watching the Eagles vs Cowboys game.  Sigh.... it's just not good. Some might say, pathetic.

I want to start this entry off by asking for extra prayers for Lenore and Nathan.  I'll give you an update on both of them tomorrow.  For now, let's pray for healing and comfort.

Mom and Dad were working at the new house all day today.  They took Cassie dog with them, so it was kind of quiet here.  Stephen and I spent the majority of the day watching PBA tournaments and football.  Oh he isn't here....we have phone dates.  I know, it seems silly but it really helps fill the void with the distance between us.

I'm going to Good Will tomorrow to drop off everything I didn't sell at the yard sale.  I tried to convince Mom to let me take her stuff too. She refused though!  Pamela, I tried to be part of the solution!!  It's your turn now!!

Below are pictures of my nieces and nephew on Halloween.  I know I am sharing them a little late!  Sorry!  You should all know, that Sarah designed all the pumpkins!  She's a VERY talented girl!

I feel good, though I think I have a cold.  My doctor says even if I don't need a coat, wear one.  My immune system is too vulnerable and shouldn't be compromised. Ummmm...I thought it already was!! I'll put a coat on....MOM!!!

I'm going to close this now.  I want to finish watching the Eagles get slaughtered.  Don't forget to count your blessings before you go to sleep tonight and remember, do it now.  Tomorrow may never come.

I sure do love y'all!!

Extraordinarily Average

Hello everyone and thank you for all the amazing and uplifting comments.  I am truly blessed.

Have you ever had one of those days where if someone else looked in on your life might say "so what" or "it's no big deal" or mediocre, even??  Today, was one of those days for me.  It was a very cold morning and there was suppose to be a neighborhood yard sale.  Mom and I were up early to get started.  Who I am fooling?  We had been price tagging and getting stuff together all week!!  I guess the chill was too much for most people though...because it seemed like the yard sales didn't start until after 10:00 am.  Even at that time, it still had not warmed up a whole bunch.  So, I brewed some tea and Mom started arranging all her "stuff" in the drive way...and eventually I did too.  The yard sales began!!

The sun was out and as long as I was sitting in it's rays...I was warm.  I have to say we were not overwhelmed by "takers" .  I can't complain though, because it gave Mom and I some great quiet time together.  We giggled and looked through old boxes that we packed away.  We reminisced over who wore a sweater last, and what grandchild played with a toy first and why she was selling this Pooh cup that both my sister and I loved when we were kids.  We shamefully mimicked some of our "customers"...ok maybe not so shamefully and we chatted with one of our neighbors that I had never even met. When the sales ended...Mom made a whopping $17 and I made $5.  Laughing....

I know, it seems terribly boring and average to you.  Oh but to me...these are the moments that are priceless.

I am off to bed now.  Don't forget to set your clocks back!!  I sure do love y'all!!!!!!!!!!!

PS ~ I talked to my Uncle Don for a while today too!!  Did I mention him and Uncle Gravy are coming for Thanksgiving???????  YEAH!!!!

The Journey

We may run, walk, stumble, drive, or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey, or miss a chance to see
a rainbow on the way.
